Overview

Afroza Akter is a dedicated pharmaceutical scientist and academician with a strong background in natural product pharmacology. She earned her B.Pharm (Hons.) and M.Pharm (Thesis) from Noakhali Science and Technology University. Currently, she serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy at R. P. Shaha University, Bangladesh, where she is actively involved in teaching and research. Her research focuses on phytochemical screening, bioactivity-guided fractionation, and pharmacological evaluations of medicinal plants, particularly in hepatoprotection, hypoglycemia, antioxidant activity, and pain management. Afroza has authored and co-authored multiple publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, showcasing her contributions to pharmaceutical sciences. Her academic excellence is reflected in her outstanding academic records, and she has received several prestigious awards, including the Noakhali Science and Technology University Merit Scholarship. With a strong passion for drug discovery, ethnopharmacology, and pharmaceutical chemistry, Afroza aims to pursue a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry, focusing on developing novel therapeutic agents from natural sources.

Research Interests

  • Phytochemistry: Studying the chemical properties of plants to identify active compounds that have therapeutic potential.
  • Pharmacognosy: Investigating medicinal plants and traditional remedies to discover new drugs or understand their mechanisms.
  • Pharmacological Screening: Conducting biological assays to evaluate the pharmacological activity of natural products.
  • Drug Discovery and Development: Utilizing natural sources to find novel drug candidates for various diseases.
  • Ethnopharmacology: Exploring traditional knowledge and practices to identify bioactive substances from natural sources.
  • Bioactivity-Guided Fractionation: Isolating and characterizing bioactive compounds using a systematic approach.
